Well, the early October weather has been great – and it looks set to stay that way for this year’s Tonbridge Half Marathon!
We have been very grateful for fine weather as carpentry, deliveries and assembly work has all been able to take place on the decking at Blossom Bank, but another benefit of the recent warm spell is perfect running conditions! The forecast for Sunday is sunny and dry, with a high of 17 degrees Celsius – much better than the weather in previous years which has seen a couple of super-hot years and a very wet run one year, too.
We are very excited to be sponsoring this year’s event, which is now in its fifth year. The Tonbridge Half Marathon, with its winding country route and tour through picturesque Leigh village, has fast become a firm favourite on the running calendar, and has received fantastic feedback and reviews from athletes. Despite its beautiful setting, the route is certainly pretty challenging in places, with a renowned hilly entry and exit from Leigh being one of the toughest sections.
This year a record 1500 runners will tackle the course, and we hope to meet as many runners, supporters and organisers/volunteers as possible. If you’re attending, come and say hello! The SCI will have a stand by the race HQ, K College, and our expert Coaching team will be offering stretching and mobility facilities and advice for runners both before and after the race.
SCI Coaches will also be offering structural balance assessments – spectators can come and test their strength and balance on one of our wobble boards! The team will also be on hand to answer training and nutrition questions, and share the news about the new premises opening Monday 5th October.
We’d like to wish all the runners the best best of luck for a fantastic event tomorrow.
Whether you’re running to raise money, to smash a PB or to take on your very first 13.1 mile distance; give it your all!
