Strongman

Muscular endurance, sprinting speed, anaerobic conditioning and pure strength are all attributes that are normally achieved through a variety of training methods. With Strongman training, however, you can enhance them all simultaneously. During this type of training you will have to learn how to lift objects that are bulky and hard to control. Flipping tires, pulling and pushing sleds, lifting logs, pressing sandbags and rope work are just some of the things you can expect to be doing. This teaches your body to use groups of muscles together which is far more transferable to sports and everyday life than more traditional types of training. More importantly you can burn calories, get strong and have fun whilst relieving your body from the stress of the day.

 

Whatever your fitness goals are, Strongman should be an integral part of your training.

Fitgirl

If you want to get fit and toned but you are bored with conventional training methods such as using the resistance machines or slogging away on the cross trainer, then Fitgirl training is the answer. This type of training is the ultimate in functional training, which means that you learn to use groups of muscles together. It is a modified type of Strongman training designed by us specifically for women. If you thought training like this was just for rugby players and body builders then you would be wrong, it is by far the best conditioning tool anyone could ever use. A few months of this training and you will look fit and lean but without having put on too much muscle.

 

Our Fitgirl classes are hard work but great fun; an excellent way to relieve stress and will leave you with the body shape you have been after.

 

Fitgirl classes run on a Thursday at 6.30-7.30pm in the conditioning area at The SCI.

Saturday Session

Join the UK’s top functional training gym for a top functional training session 8.30-9.30am every Saturday morning!

 

We’ll be using our 800 sq ft conditioning area for 60 minutes of interval and resistance training. This will include a warm up and cool down, and will use some of the great kit we have to offer: sleds, tyres, prowler, Kettlebells, ropes, VipRs, parralettes and medicine balls.

 

This style of training lends itself incredibly well to fat loss, increasing muscle mass and improved muscle tone, as well as boosting cardio vascular performance in a very short space of time. But most importantly – with likeminded people – it’s a great way of enjoying exercise, and a great way to start every weekend!

 

The session is open to men and women of all ages and abilities, members (£5 fee) and non-members (£8 fee) alike. No booking required. We’d love to see you there!
